Experience a visual interpretation of one of the most profound stories of love from classical antiquity. This original piece is inspired by Aristophanes’ speech in Plato’s Symposium (c. 385 BC), exploring the origins of the human soul and our eternal search for "the one."

According to the myth, humans were once powerful, a circular being with four arms, four legs, and two faces. One human of two persons. 

Fearing their strength and pride (hybris), Zeus split them in two. Ever since, every human has been but a "tally" of a person, wandering the earth in a lifelong search for their missing half to regain their original wholeness. This painting captures that visceral Eros—the instinctive longing to heal the wound of our division. That one always looks after the other half of one self.
